Hey Hikers! It’s time for the monthly Hike update email where I run through what’s new in Hike over the last month. This month I discuss the new ‘Similar Pages’ action (to highlight those pesky duplicate content issues you have), our new website crawler, and updates to the keywords section. As always, watch the video update below or carry on to read an overview of these new actions:

Find Duplicate Content Issues With New ‘Similar Pages’ Action 📚

Duplicate content can be a silent killer in SEO. Re-using the same content across multiple pages on your website can really prevent Google from ranking your website as high as it should.

And half the time you don’t even know where the duplicate content is.

With Hike’s new ‘similar pages’ action, your days of worrying are over! Hike will show you pages where the copy (all words within <p> tags) is over a 90% match.

These are the pages you’ll then need to decide whether to add unique copy, or remove altogether.

You’ll see these new ‘similar pages’ actions in your account over the next 30 days.

New Website Crawler 🕷️

In the last few weeks we’ve rolled out a brand new website crawler. Although you won’t see any immediate changes in the platform itself, there are many benefits including:

  • > It’s much faster (we can now crawl websites in minutes)
  • > We can crawl more pages
  • > We’ll see less timeouts/IP-blocking
  • > We can roll out new actions over-time (a bit like the new similar content action above)

Keyword Difficulty & SV Data 🤓

We’ve now included keyword difficulty and search volume data within the ‘Untracked Keywords’ section on the rankings page:

And you’ll also see keyword difficulty within the competitor keywords table too:

That’s all for now, have a great day everyone!

Thanks,
