In this video, we’re going to discuss local citations and how to manage them directly within Hike. You can watch the video, or read the text summary below:
This feature is extremely beneficial as it allows you to see the consistency and accuracy of your information across different citations. If there are any inconsistencies or discrepancies, they will be flagged within Hike, allowing you to rectify them immediately. This is particularly useful if you’ve made changes to your business name, address, phone number, or other details, as the system will detect these changes and facilitate their update across other directories.
Another advantage is the visibility it provides to other directories where you can submit your listings, boosting your local SEO.
Before we dive in, let’s locate where to access this feature. Navigate to your local tab and click on ‘directories’. This will take you to your local citations page.
There’s an option to export this list if you wish. This essentially downloads an audit of your current citation status.
The page comprises three sections: Correct Citations, Incorrect Citations, and Missing Citations.
Correct Citations: These are the listings that match your business name, address, phone number, and other details as per your Google My Business Profile. By clicking on these, you can view and visit the associated link. If there’s a need to update or remove the link, this can be done right here.
Incorrect Citations: Here, Hike flags any discrepancies, such as inconsistencies with your address. It’s crucial to ensure that your details match those on your Google My Business Profile. You can correct these by clicking on the link to your business details and logging into your account to edit them. Once you’ve updated the information, mark it as such, and Hike will rescan it in due course, moving it to the Correct Citations section.
Missing Citations: These are the ones yet to be submitted. Clicking on them will provide the URL where you can sign up and add your business. After creating your profile, copy the URL, paste it here, and click on ‘proceed’. This will submit it for Hike analysis to verify that all the details are accurate.
I highly recommend reviewing all of these sections and submitting your business profile for each citation.
